Was an image taken of a child ghost in Queensland?

Hoping to visit Queensland to relax and escape any spirits that might be haunting your home town? Think again.

A photo has surfaced recently of a pair of Australian women swimming near Toowoomba with three children ... plus one unexpected guest.

The Ghostly Child

Since appearing on Toowoomba Ghost Chasers' Facebook page, the photo in question has caused quite a stir. The comments section is ablaze with debate, some people believing that a ghostly image had been captured, and others passing it off as nothing.

So what are they debating?

Well it's quite possible that this particular creek - located nearby Helidon, about 20 kilometres from Toowoomba - is a haunted place.

"At the time of taking this photo there was nothing between us," one of the women, Kim Davison told the Daily Mail.

However, if you review the photo, you can see a distinctly child-like shape floating where there was supposedly no one. It is even partially translucent, with what could be some kind of horns.

Some believe that it is the ghost of a 13 year-old girl who drowned in the area of the creek known as Murphy's Hole, which is reportedly over six meters deep. A Brisbane Courier news story from Nov 22, 1915 reveals the story behind the girl's death.

It claims she was accidentally drowned, and her body was not recovered for over an hour. Her name was Doreen O'Sullivan, and her funeral was "largely unattended."

Ms. Davison claimed they had felt a strangeness in the water, and that her daughter's leg had been grabbed twice by an unknown source.

"I never swim in creeks, but on this day I did, and when I went back in for one last dip to cool off, I did feel something behind me as I was walking out of water but tried to ignore it," she posted on Facebook beneath the photo.
